Corinthian Update 28/09/11:
The Corinthian workforce has voted to return to work and all workers will be back from 06.15 am tomorrow morning, 29 September.
Workers have agreed to go back to work to encourage the company to reciprocate in good faith in the next stage of the negotiations.
Following this breakthrough, the Union is calling for the commencement of meaningful negotiations on the Enterprise Bargaining Agreement, this time with the upper echelon of the company’s management. The negotiations need to restart ASAP.
CFMEU members at Corinthian across the country are encouraging each other to make sure that they vote and to make sure that they vote NO to the previous offer put up by the company which is inadequate.Corinthian Doors, owned by Jeld-Wen and with factories in St Mary’s Sydney, Dandenong, Campbellfield and Scoresby Victoria, Regency Park South Australia and Canningvale Western Australia are negotiating for a new enterprise agreement and wage increase. The company is refusing to give workers at these sites a fair pay increase that will meet the projected increases in the cost of living, and as a result reduce the real wages of their employees. In response CFMEU members employed at Jeld-Wen Australia wide have engaged in protected industrial action to secure a fair outcome from the company.
In a parallel negotiation, CFMEU members at South Australian door and window manufacturer Stegbar, another Jeld-Wen company, have undertaken industrial action in pursuit of a new enterprise agreement.
