Key to a successful occupational health and safety program is consultation and participation of the employees in all aspects of managing health and safety issues in the workplace. To that end we conduct a range of workplace activities around occupational health and safety.
We assist our members and elected health and safety representatives to:
• Access appropriate health and safety training;
• Gain skills in the health and safety field;
• Utilize those skills to improve their workplace safety.
We regularly undertake partner programs with government agencies to assist health and safety representatives and members to have safer and healthier workplaces.
A recently completed project – Health & Safety Representatives Support Program – produced a number of information brochures about common wood manufacturing risks and health issues. These brochures provide general information about the hazards and, importantly, where you can go for further information. They can be downloaded by clicking on the links on the right hand side of this page.
