Some years back the Tarpeena Football Club sadly went into bankruptcy with money owing to local businesses. The Annual Match for the CFMEU Legends Trophy is designed to raise funds so that the Tarpeena Football Club can repay any outstanding debts to the local community and with the hope that eventually enough money will be raised to reactivate the footy club.
The CFMEU Legends Trophy was made in the saw shop at Tarpeena. The photo of the trophy presentation shows Linton Cran at right, the owner and publican of the Tarpeena Pines Hotel who is a great supporter of the Union, the ALP and, of course, the local footy club and the community.
The Mansell family sertainly made their presence felt with three generations playing out on the field, one oif whom is a CFMEU FFPD Members and the leading hand in the saw shop at Tarpeena.
The team is made up of between 50 - 70% CFMEU FFPD Members and a couple of managers play as well.
Tarpeena were the winners on the day which was watched by 100 - 150 spectatorsat Long Neck Day - a full day family event with breakfast and lunch provided.
